Baby Shower Muhurat 2030: Godh Bharai (Simantonnayana) Auspicious Dates

The top baby shower muhurat dates of 2030 for Godh Bharai, the Simantonnayana (Seemanta) samskara, scored 0 to 100 on classical factors: tithi, weekday, nakshatra, yoga, karana, Tara bala, plus Guru and Shukra asta checks and eclipse exclusions. The rite is held in the 6th or 8th month of pregnancy for the wellbeing of mother and child, and is called Seemantham or Valaikappu in the South, Shaadh in Bengal and Dohale Jevan in Maharashtra. Each date shows its best intra-day lagna window. The classical weekday rule is strict, so only 30 dates in the whole of 2030 pass every filter.

How we score a baby shower muhurat

Every date is scored 0 to 100 on the classical Seemanta (Simantonnayana) factors:

  • Weekday: only the purusha (male) weekdays are prescribed for this samskara: Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are excluded
  • Tithi: Pratipada, Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi and Trayodashi, in both pakshas
  • Nakshatra: Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha and Uttara Bhadrapada are rated strongest; Mrigashira, Pushya, Hasta, Shravana and Revati from the wider practice are also admitted, without the nakshatra points
  • Lagna window: the best intra-day window, in an odd (male) rashi where possible: Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius or Aquarius, with benefics in kendra and trikona and malefics in the 3rd, 6th and 11th
  • Timing: hold the ceremony from morning to afternoon, and keep it clear of Rahu Kalam
  • Exclusions: Rikta tithis (Chaturthi, Navami, Chaturdashi), Amavasya, Jwalamukhi Yoga days and eclipse days are excluded outright

Dates we exclude, and why

These classical prohibitions remove a date from the baby shower list entirely:

  • Saturday: Shani vara is broadly avoided for auspicious rites, and for this one above all: Saturn signifies delay, obstruction and sorrow, the opposite of what the Seemanta rite seeks for mother and child
  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: the muhurta texts prescribe only the purusha (male) weekdays, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, for Simantonnayana, so the remaining weekdays fall away with Saturday
  • Rikta tithis: Chaturthi, Navami and Chaturdashi of either paksha are considered hollow for samskaras
  • Amavasya, and tithis outside the Seemanta set: only the eight listed tithis are prescribed, so the rest, Purnima included, are excluded
  • Jwalamukhi Yoga: the fierce tithi-nakshatra combinations are barred
  • Eclipse days: no samskara on solar or lunar eclipse days

Why is Tuesday allowed here when it is avoided almost everywhere else? Because the rule for this rite turns on the weekday being male, and Mangalvar is a male weekday. Many families today keep the rule simpler and avoid only Saturday; this page follows the stricter classical reading, and your family pandit has the final word for your tradition.

Cross-check: our rule set follows the Seemanta (Godh Bharai) rules published by Drik Panchang: only Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, tithis 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11 and 13 of both pakshas, and Rohini with the three Uttara nakshatras rated best. That is why no Saturday can appear anywhere in our list, while general baby shower date lists elsewhere, which usually drop Saturday alone, run much longer. Where we go beyond Drik: the wider practice nakshatras (Mrigashira, Pushya, Hasta, Shravana, Revati) are admitted at a lower score, and every date carries our 0 to 100 score with its best lagna window.

Frequently asked questions

What makes February 7, 2030 the best baby shower date of 2030?
February 7, 2030 scores 96, the highest of any date in 2030. Shukla Panchami tithi is favored for Baby Shower. Thursday is a favored weekday for Baby Shower. Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra is favored for Baby Shower.
Why is a baby shower not kept on Saturday?
The muhurta texts prescribe only the male weekdays, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, for Simantonnayana, and Saturday fails that rule. Shani vara is also broadly avoided for auspicious rites because Saturn stands for delay, obstruction and sorrow, the opposite of what this rite seeks for mother and child. Many families today apply the simpler version of the rule, any day except Saturday, but the classical list drops Monday, Wednesday and Friday too.
Can Godh Bharai be done on Tuesday?
Yes. Tuesday is avoided for most auspicious work, but the Seemanta rule turns on the weekday being male (purusha vara), and Tuesday is a male weekday, so the classical texts permit it for Godh Bharai. Our list includes Tuesdays that pass the tithi and nakshatra filters.
In which month of pregnancy is the baby shower held?
Simantonnayana is performed in the 6th or 8th month of pregnancy. The same rite is called Godh Bharai in North India, Seemantham or Valaikappu in the South, Shaadh in Bengal and Dohale Jevan in Maharashtra, and the month convention varies a little by region and family.
Do baby shower dates change by city?
Yes. Sunrise, sunset and the resulting lagna windows shift with location and timezone, so a date that is excellent in Delhi may score differently in Chicago or London. Always check for your city, and for a fully personalised date, have the mother's Chandra bala and Tara shuddhi checked from her own chart.
